Becoming home, dissects a home into its walls and roof. It confronts the viewer in a change from a shelter to an open, vulnerable and fragile space by interrupting it with the overpowering symphony from beyond its walls.
It re-evaluates the idea of a home and a shelter.
Leaving, longing for a retreat to a place outside of this space and time.
This work has been in collaboration with coservatior student Levi Karstensen, throughout the entirity of the process.

Experiments
We soon began experimenting with the metal plates after becoming fascinated by the concept of “plate reverbs,” where a certain reverberation is added to a sound when you pass it through the plate. We also tested this by using various materials and techniques to create sounds on the plates.
Soon, our question was: what if you are surrounded by these sounds and this material; what can scale and quantity do to something?
After a few weeks of experimenting, quickly focused on the feeling of what we had: how small and open this space was, and how it made me feel. Also, how certain unpleasant events in my past came close to that feeling. This work is therefore my most personal work to date. And I must say, it made it more authentic and easier for me.
First few tests with found materials

To be able to realise a project like this, we had to do a lot of drawing and calculating, to let the structure be able to hold itself up and provide safety.
